I need some help. I’ve been noticing lately (in the last 6 months
or so) that *sometimes* I can see an "aura" (I don’t know how else
do describe it) surrounding a person I’m looking at. What does
this mean? The aura often appears a certain color, with gold, blue,
and green seemingly the most common. Can anyone recommend somewhere
I can read up on this? I’m *very* new at this. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
I (William Tucker) think:
There seems to be some confusion about this subject, from the other
posts about it, or at least miscommunication. There are as I understand
it seven layers to the aura, or seven auric bodies. The oft mentioned astral
body is one of these layers, as they are not really layers but separate bodies
relating to different aspects of the person. They occupy the same space as the
physical body and somewhat beyond it, as Casteneda describes it in an egg shape.
Most people are aware of only the lower three layers relating to the physical
body, the emotional body and the solar plexus will center, or linear thinking
mental center. They see this as one thing, usually showing as color emanating
from the body out about three-six inches, most easily visible against a light
background in lowered light. Some colors are more easily seen agains a dark
background. Aura reading is related to the field of health in most Eastern
traditions. The halo around the head of enlightend individuals is an effect of
the aura. Everyone supposedly has this light around them but, if I remember
correctly when a truly enlightend individual is acting the amount of light
coming off of them is so great that ordinary people can see it.
Tagi mentioned some books, I particuarly liked Anodea Judith’s book, but it
dealt mainly with chakras. There’s two other Llewllyn books that I liked:
"How to See and Read the Aura", by Ted Andrews that gives a guide to learning
how to see auras. Mind you as I understand it it takes years to be able to do
little more than just notice the color around the body.
"Kundalini and the Chakras, A Practical Manual, Evolution in This Lifetime,"
by Genevieve Lewis Paulson. In my opinion a terrific book probably combining
the best of a lot of different sources. Also apparently written by one who
sees auras, as well as understands "stuff". She also tells how to learn to see
it.
The definitive book on auras in general, and in particular relating to healing
is in my opinion Barbara Brennan’s book "Hands of Light"
as far as karma in the aura:
Apparently there is stuff in the aura that relates to past lives. It is particularly
visible as "bands" around the head and shoulders, from what they say. People who see
auras, have their third eye open, apparently experience this as moving pictures
in the auras. There is also stuff relating to your present life, that is a pattern
in your life, thought forms. This was written about in a book "The Secret is in
the Rainbow," by Berger. I’ve also read about it in other places too.
as far as whether different people see the same thing:
If they have the same degree of awareness and are using it the same way
they see the same thing. However, there are different methods they use
for training people that have them experience it by visualizing it rather
than seeing it. This is different than seeing it, apparently it really
is a visual experience, and is not something happening only in your mind.
Read the book "The Holographic Universe" by Michael Talbot for verification
on this.
Probably one of the best, fun books on weird things I’ve ever read is
Autobiography of a Yogi, and yes it sounds dull and looks dull but, if
you want to hear about a lot of strange stuff in a matter of fact,
beautiful way check it out.
